Bamboozle INSET courses

Training is usually best when tailored to the particular needs of your school at a given point in time.  Whether it is enhancing the curriculum, managing behaviour or creating multi-sensory spaces we can help.  Please call us on 0116 255 2065 to discuss your needs and we can work out what is most appropriate for your school.   In the meantime the following outlines give an idea of what we offer.

  • Creating Multi-Sensory Environments & ways to use them.

For many special schools time and money are in short supply. This course recognises those limitations and focuses on how we can create MSEs quickly with little cost.  It is a practical day where staff build MSEs in classrooms and hall.  It uses ideas from Christopher Davies’ book “Creating Multi-Sensory Environments – Practical Ideas for Teaching and Learning.”

“Brilliant fun, interesting and informative.  A day that gave me time to think and the conviction to take a risk – very enjoyable and thought provoking” Karen Hodgkinson &  Becky Green.  St Giles School. Derbyshire

  • Autism – Creative Ways to Engage ASD

This course demonstrates lots of simple ways – both non-verbal and verbal – that can be used to engage with students who are on the autistic spectrum.   We will look at the 9 key strategies Bamboozle has developed to work successfully with ASD with video examples to support each strategy.

“Awesome course!  Inspiring, exciting and do-able.  Priceless information.”   Di Bloomer – Sunfield School  Worcs.

  • Drama for SEN

Staff from special schools agree that drama is a great way to engage the interest of their students.  The trouble is that they are often not sure where to begin.  This one day course is designed to be relevant for complete beginners and those with experience as well and is packed full of practical ways to get started and lots of ideas that you can use immediately.

“Inspirational, thought provoking, challenging and inclusive.  Your enthusiasm and commitment shine through.     A wonderful day – I wish it could have been longer.”  Susan Pesic-Smith.  Westgate School, Leicester.

  • Drama for Challenging Behaviour

Having ideas for drama sessions is not much use if we can’t get the attention of our students in the first place.  Based on Bamboozle’s practical experience this course gives you lots of ideas for engaging students who have challenging behaviour in drama activities for learning.

Amazing, relevant and multi-sensory Jo Goodwin. “Thought provoking, exciting and reflective. Amy Wadd.

  • Shakespeare for Special Needs

This one day course makes Shakespeare’s plays accessible to the whole range of SEN students; from multi-sensory approaches for pmld to non-threatening ways for MLD students to access the text.

Completely relevant, instantly implementable.”  Claire Thomas, Westgate.  “Inspirational!  It demystified Shakespeare and made it simple.”  Nick Allison, Ashmount School.
