Puppetry

Bamboozle has developed a way of using puppets with students with SEN which engages them, often on very deep levels. We use puppets across all the learning difficulty spectrum. Interestingly, for students on the autistic spectrum it seems to be all or nothing. We have had many profound results that have amazed everyone while with other students there has been very little engagement at all. Everyone is different!

Sue Pyecroft Bamboozle’s co-artistic director leads the company’s puppetry development. Her puppets are a key feature of Bamboozle’s touring productions such as Where The Wild Things Are [2010] and Crazy Hair [2011]. They have also been seen in Bamboozle’s collaboration with the National Theatre’s production of War Horse [2007], in Curve Theatre’s productions: His Dark Materials [2009], Dolly [New Perspectives 2010] and The King and I [2010] and in Northampton Theatre Trust’s production Alice [2011] She is currently working with New Perspectives on Michael Morpurgo’s Butterfly Lion [2012] making lions, snakes, butterflies and hyenas and on the Curve / Dragon’s Breath Theatre Company collaboration Gulliver’s Travels [2012]
