Touring

Current tours now booking:

“Moon Song” for ASD audiences.

National tour June/July 2013 – 10 dates only.

This performance has been designed to accommodate the very wide range of abilities within the autistic spectrum.  Our continuing research into performance for ASD students has indicated there is a need for a performance that is accessible to all levels of the spectrum.

Moon Song has been carefully designed to accommodate whichever level of ASD students you have in your school – including the hard to reach end of the spectrum.  With haunting music and Bamboozle’s trademark interactive style Moon Song seeks to enchant and engage your students with a patient mix of interaction and invitation.

How can we be sure that the Bamboozle team can handle our hard to reach students?

The company touring Moon Song is led by the artistic director Christopher Davies and has many years’ experience working with ASD students including those described as being “very hard to reach”.  Prior to devising “Moon Song” we worked with three special schools to develop the ideas.  Staff at one of the schools said:

“It was great to experience Bamboozle’s calm, positive and non-judgemental approach.  We felt at ease with the Bamboozle team and were confident with them working with students who they didn’t know.  We usually feel the need to give information and guide other adults because of the various behaviours, but didn’t feel any need to explain or interrupt during the Bamboozle sessions.

Brilliant to watch the change in students’ behaviour, from anxious to curious and relaxed.

We feel very enthusiastic about using the techniques and helping students to achieve using this approach.” Stanton Vale School – ASD staff team.

How many in the audience?  This depends on the students; and we need to carefully consider this together.

For the very hardest to reach students we can accommodate 4 at a time – along with their carers.  This is to give a ratio of 1:1 performer : audience.

For a group who are able to sit on chairs and watch a performance without undue anxiety or the need to rush about then from 6 to 10 students per performance is possible.

We will need to have a telephone conversation about the levels of your group to ensure we get this right.  Artistic Director Christopher Davies 07779 248978 will call to discuss with you your students and the approach we use to ensure that the students and staff get the maximum out of the performance.

How many performances in the day.

We will do three performances during the day at times to accommodate your timetable.

Each performance is for between 4 and 10 students – see above.

Each performance lasts around 35-40 minutes – times will vary according to how students respond.

“This superb company can hold the attention of all our young people in a way no other theatre company has ever done!” Debbie Withers, Head Teacher Wren Spinney School, Northants.

“Light as a Feather” for PMLD audiences

Light as a Feather toured nationally from December 2012 – February 2013 to great acclaim [see below].  Because of this we are still accepting bookings for this show until July 2013.  Contact Emma in the office 0116 255 2065 or email emma@bamboozletheatre.co.uk to discuss your needs and dates.

“Amazing!!  My student gets very little pleasure from most day to day activities as he is very sensitive, is totally blind, not usually happy with physical stimulation and spends a lot of his day self-harming.  He wears a boxing helmet to protect his face from the harm and is usually covered in blankets for comfort.  Today he sat through the whole Bamboozle experience with minimum blankets, his helmet off and his head held high.   He laughed and rocked and vocalised to the show.  He welcomed the sensory touch and quite obviously enjoyed every bit of the show – some staff were practically brought to tears to see his interaction,  Total credit to the Bamboozle team, words cannot express what they bring to students at Hollybank.  Thank you so much!!”

Jill Vandesande, Hollybank Trust, Yorkshire.
