Bamboozle Half Marathons!

Jade Frost, Bamboozle’s Tour Co-ordinator, trained for over 12 weeks to run Leicester half marathon to raise money for Bamboozle.

Jade said, “to begin with it was really tough as I’ve only ever run a 3-mile race before. But I soon found it was great to have a regular training routine, and it was a huge motivation to know I was raising money for Bamboozle. It’s amazing how generous sponsors have been and I’m delighted to have raised just over £1050.”

Well done Jade!

Running for 13 miles once is tough enough – but how about local businessman Ian Kirkpatrick running it 20 times!

Ian Kirkpatrick of Tsunami Computers is doing 20 half marathons throughout 2017 to raise money for Bamboozle.

Tsunami Computers will be 20 years old next year and have nominated Bamboozle as their Charity of the Year. In a mad moment, Ian, owner of Tsunami Computers, decided he would run 20 half marathons during 2017 to celebrate the event!

Local Businessman becomes Alpha Wolf for charity!

Steve Chadwick of Martin & Co, Hinckley and Nuneaton, has ran four Wolf Runs in 12 months to raise money for Bamboozle!

He completed his fourth run in freezing November temperatures earlier this month to claim his title as Alpha Wolf.

The Wolf Run is a gruelling 10k obstacle course, which is very VERY muddy. The Alpha Wolf Challenge is to complete one for each season of the year. Steve even ran the summer challenge with Bamboozle’s mascot “Bunboozle” – a very large cuddly toy rabbit – on his back!

So far, Steve has raised a fantastic £655 – well done Steve! We hope you’ve been able to get all that mud off!

Spark Something Good

A new lease of life for Bamboozle HQ

Volunteers from Marks & Spencer gave a much needed helping hand to transform Bamboozle Head Quarters on the 14th October 2016.

Stunning photos of our work, printed by Neil Plumb of plumbimages, now line our stairwell; bright shades of red and green now bring our foyer and kitchen to life. When people enter our building, they can see instantly into the world of Bamboozle – no more do we have just a dull set of stairs!

An inspiring entrance for an inspiring charity!

Thank you to everyone who was involved!

Euan’s 50 mile challenge!

11-year-old Euan to cycle 50 miles with champion for charities

Leicester boy Euan Davies, 11, cycled 50 miles on Saturday October 15 with European junior champion Grace Garner for two charities close to his heart.

Euan, a Granby Primary School pupil from Aylestone, took on the challenge to fundraise for Bamboozle, which provides theatre activity days for learning disabled children and their families, and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Rosemere is based in Lancashire where Euan’s favourite author, Tommy Donbavand, is receiving treatment for cancer.

Euan had been due to meet Tommy, 48, who wrote the Scream Street books, at the Leicester Tigers’ ground in March but was disappointed when the event was cancelled at short notice.

When Euan found out it was because Tommy had been diagnosed the day before, he decided to show his support by taking on the cycling challenge.

Euan is the son of Bamboozle director Christopher Davies and two years ago cycled and paddled 20 miles to fundraise for the Leicester theatre company.

Euan said: “I would like to raise as much money as I can for my favourite charities. It was really tough training for this challenge. I feel very lucky that Grace agreed to support me. It was very exciting.”

Grace Garner, 19, from Cosby, is a European junior track champion. Grace, who also cycled with Euan in 2014, said: “Seeing what Bamboozle does is amazing. I’m really pleased to be able to help Euan with his fundraising. Fifty miles is a good challenge but he’s a very impressive young man. It’s hard to believe he’s only 11″.

The ride began at Jubilee Square outside BBC Radio Leicester at 9am, and took in the Great Central Way, Blaby, Countesthorpe, Anstey, Beacon Hill and County Hall, where Euan was joined by some of his friends for the last part of the ride to Orton Square outside Curve, finishing at 4.30pm.

Over all, Euan has raised over £1,000. Amazing! You can watch Euan’s training video here:

Several businesses sponsored Euan. They are Torr Waterfield Accountants, EcoClean, Tsumani Computers, Blaby Electrical, Oaklands Bathrooms, Bradgate Lettings, Transformation Fit, Will Planning Solutions, Harbot Builders, Michael Wheat Pond Design and FMB Cycles.
